Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2021, Volume 15, Issue 2,   Pages 330-339 doi: 10.1007/s11705-020-1929-6

Abstract: This study focuses on the synthesis of new liquid aromatic bismaleimide monomers in order to improve self-curing on demand (SCOD) systems previously based on aliphatic bismaleimides. These SCOD systems are based on Diels-Alder (DA)/retro-DA reactions. The syntheses of new different aromatic bismaleimides with ester and amide bonds are presented. These maleimides have been protected using DA reaction and characterized by H NMR analysis to determine protection rate and diastereomer ratios. The retro-DA reactions of both aromatic and aliphatic DA adducts in presence of thiol molecules were studied. Kinetic analysis was monitored by H NMR and compared to model study. Finally, both aromatic and aliphatic bismaleimides-based polymers were synthesized with 2-mercaptoethyl ether and thermal properties of polymers were compared. The glass transition temperature values ranged from –20 °C to 14 °C and very good thermal stabilities were observed (up to 300 °C).

Thinking about Future Plant Medicine Engineering

Gao Jinji

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 12,   Pages 30-35

Abstract:

According to the dissipative structure theory, human has much in common with man-made machine, and there is much in resemblance between disease healing of human and fault overcoming of machine. Under the light of the systemics, by introducing the methodology of medical science into the field of machine fault diagnosis, prediction and prevention, it is possible to build a new theory of PME (Plant Medicine Engineering) to prevent and eliminate faults of machine by engineering means. Some common issues, such as the forming of diseases and faults, how to diagnose those diseases and faults, the deep rule concerning the causes and mechanisms of faults and diseases, comparison between curing and self-healing, and between the dealing of symptoms and that of initial causes, etc. , were discussed in this paper. A novel “crystal box approach” of PME, which is based on the piths of both “black-box approach” of traditional Chinese medical theory and uwhite-box approach^ of modern west medical science, was put forth. Lastly, from the view point df PME, some pitfalls in current studies about fault diagnosis are discussed.

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2014, Volume 1, Issue 2,   Pages 129-139 doi: 10.15302/J-FEM-2014020

Abstract: This paper, proceeding from the project construction process, the management mode and the implementation way, makes an in-depth study of the environmental characteristics and the managerial elements of petrochemical engineering construction project, revealing the inherent laws, establishing a theoretical model, and proposing a theory of the mechanisms of construction project management; and presents profound revelations found for construction project management in petrochemical engineering in seven aspects, which can play a guiding role in improving the managerial performance of petrochemical construction project. The theory established proposes that: The construction project management in petrochemical engineering is a complex systematic process, formed of 5 phases and 55 sub-processes of management, and exposed to many factors of influence; the environmental characteristics and managerial elements exercise positive impacts on managerial performance, but different factors have different impacts and act in different ways on managerial performance; the managerial elements of petrochemical engineering construction project are tiered, transferable, systematic and quantifiable, and the role of managerial elements in the managerial performance can be systematically integrated, quantitatively explained and transferred in a multi-level way.

Qin Yang, Peng Sun, Shi Chen, Hongzhe Li, Fangyi Chen

Frontiers of Medicine 2017, Volume 11, Issue 2,   Pages 178-190 doi: 10.1007/s11684-017-0507-x

Abstract:

Zebrafish is an emerging animal model for studies on auditory system. This model presents high comparability with humans, good accessibility to the hearing organ, and high throughput capacity. To better utilize this animal model, methodologies need to be used to quantify the hearing function of the zebrafish. Zebrafish displays a series of innate and robust behavior related to its auditory function. Here, we reviewed the advantage of using zebrafish in auditory research and then introduced three behavioral tests, as follows: the startle response, the vestibular-ocular reflex, and rheotaxis. These tests are discussed in terms of their physiological characteristics, up-to-date technical development, and apparatus description. Test limitation and areas to improve are also introduced. Finally, we revealed the feasibility of these applications in zebrafish behavioral assessment and their potential in the high-throughput screening on hearing-related genes and drugs.
